RRTS (Regional Rapid Transit System) is a high-speed dedicated rapid rail train that will inter connect the major regions of National Capital Region. The RRTS network will comprise of 8 corridors that will provide high speed (180 kmph) and High frequency (5 to 10 mins) commuter services that will enable users to zip from one region of NCR to another within 45 mins.
The NCRTC is a cooperative venture between the federal government, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan to improve transportation in the Delhi-NCR region. They're working on the three RRTS routes: Delhi-Alwar, Delhi-Meerut, and Delhi-Panipat. The National Capital Region Planning Board has selected 8 such corridors as part of the Integrated Transportation Plan 2032, which aims to further inter connect the National Capital Region. On the Metro line, the Delhi-Alwar high-speed rail system would relieve congestion in the Delhi-NCR region and provide a comfortable mode of transportation between the two cities. The states Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan will benefit from this corridor because it has 19 stations for an efficient journey.
• The corridor stretches for 180.50 kilometers. The first 124 kilometers are elevated, while the final 56 kilometers are subterranean. The first nine stations are subterranean, while the rest are elevated This eliminates the need for land acquisition and fastens construction period which plagued Delhi Metro. RRTS will be a significant upgrade on existing Metro in terms of features as it travels at 3 times the speed of Metro
• For passenger safety, they all feature universal access and platform screen doors. The rail line is planned to travel at a top speed of 180 kmph. The operational speed will be 160 kmph, with a 100 kmph average speed. Thus, giving Delhi-NCR a world class inter city travelling option.
• The air-conditioned carriages of the RRTS trains will be divided into two categories: economy and business. The rail frequency will be very high, with trains arriving every 5 to 10 minutes. Thus driving development of outlying areas of Delhi-NCR.
• Udyog Vihar station in Gurgaon is going to be interoperable with a proposed extension to the Gurugram Rapid Metro. Currently, Delhi Metro line connects Huda City Centre Gurgaon and Delhi. It currently takes 40 minutes to reach from there to INA. After RRTS corridor will become operational it will reduce this time period to just 15 mins. It will give a big boost to the GDP of Delhi-NCR
